REMTON Interview Tips Access Procedure for Mentees

Purpose
To provide mentees with personalized, practical, and professional interview guidance to improve their chances of success in academic, scholarship, and job interviews.

Types of Interviews Covered by REMTON

Mentees can seek tips for any of the following interview types:

1. Job Interviews – For employment opportunities at entry, mid, or senior levels.
2. Scholarship Interviews – For academic funding opportunities at local or international institutions.
3. Academic Admission Interviews – For entry into universities, graduate schools, or specialized programs.
4. Internship Interviews – For placement in professional training roles.
5. Panel Interviews – Conducted by multiple interviewers assessing diverse skills.
6. Virtual/Online Interviews – Conducted via Zoom, Teams, or other digital platforms.
7. Promotional/Progression Interviews – For career advancement within an organization.
8. Competency-Based Interviews – Focused on skills and past performance scenarios.
9. Situational/Behavioural Interviews – Focused on hypothetical problem-solving.

Process Flow

Step 1 – Request for Interview Tips
1. Initiation by Mentee
• Mentee submits a request via REMTON’s Online Form, email, or in-person at the centre.
• Request should include:
- Type of interview (e.g., job, scholarship, academic admission).
- Date of the upcoming interview.
- Any specific concerns or challenges.

2. Acknowledgment
• REMTON responds within 24–48 hours to confirm receipt and schedule an appointment.

Step 2 – Needs Assessment
1. Pre-Session Questionnaire
• Mentee fills out a short survey to assess:
- Interview experience level.
- Knowledge of the organization/institution they are applying to.
- Self-assessed strengths and weaknesses.

2. Assignment of a Mentor
• REMTON matches the mentee with a mentor who has relevant expertise in the mentee’s field.

Step 3 – Interview Coaching Session
1. Initial Coaching (30–45 minutes)
• Mentor discusses:
- The purpose of the interview.
- Common interview formats and question types.
- Techniques for answering questions (e.g., STAR method).
- Body language, tone, and appearance tips.

2. Practical Mock Interview (20–30 minutes)
• Mentor simulates an interview based on mentee’s goal.
• Realistic questions are asked and responses assessed.

Step 4 – Feedback and Action Plan
1. Performance Review
• Mentor provides detailed feedback on:
- Content quality.
- Communication clarity.
- Confidence and presentation.

2. Improvement Plan
• Mentor gives mentee:
- A personalized improvement checklist.
- Resources (sample questions, articles, videos).
- Suggested follow-up sessions.

Step 5 – Follow-Up Support
1. Optional Review Session
• If time allows before the actual interview, mentee can book a second mock interview.

2. Post-Interview Reflection
• Mentee is encouraged to share their interview experience with the mentor for future learning.

Roles & Responsibilities

Mentee: Initiates request, attends sessions on time, and applies feedback.
Mentor: Prepares tailored guidance, conducts mock interviews, and provides constructive feedback.
REMTON Admin: Manages scheduling, documentation, and resource distribution.

Documentation

• All interview tip sessions are recorded in the Mentee Development Log.
• Progress tracking is done for each mentee to measure improvement.
